Birthday bash

Well, as I previously promised..here are the pics from my grandson's 1st bday party.

Here are the invites...all cardstock is from American Crafts - Primary colors.  They measure about 4.5 all around....

Characters are from the Bump in the Night cartridge.  I alternated the colors for the invites and the monsters.  Information is printed on white copy paper and washi tape is on the bottom. 

This is by far my favorite character and I'm upset with myself for not taking a better picture when I had the chance, this picture below is courtesy of my cousin who was kind enough to snap pics of the day while I entertained the guest.

He measures 23in. in length and about the same in width.  I used my gypsy to cut him and split the image in two.  The idea was to play "pin the eye on the monster".  I used random scalloped circles that I had and put the child's initials on it.  Of course, everyone was a winner.  This little fellow here is my cousin's son and he was so super happy when he placed his 'eye' in place...I think this was my favorite part of the day....

I can't remember what cart I used for the banner but the letters are from the Don Juan cart. They are cut at 5in. I love this font...the "1st" is cut with Alphalicious and measures about 10in. in length, the word "birthday" is from 'Create a Critter' and it spans about 23in. in width.

Now for the party bags, I cut 3 of each character.  The idea was to have the kids match their monster to their party bag and to their drawing space.  The largest was cut at 5 in. because it was supposed to be part of their party hat but once the kids were here, we decided that putting it on a string and hanging it around their neck worked better for matching purposes.  These are some of the characters, laid out on the table so that each guest could pick their monster.

I stamped Thank you  on the bottom of each bag before filling them up with goodies.

 Close ups of the bags.  The aunt of the bday boy, my oldest daughter, did all the faux stitching....

The image on the bags was cut at about 3.5 inches and so was the image that was placed in each child's designated drawing area.  I don't have any pics but I placed 11x17 white copy paper with a monster on it, on the wall in random spots around the house and every guest had to find their matching monster and draw a picture.  Again, it was a great hit with the kids.

On the cake, I placed an extra monster I had because the cake was a plain one and we couldn't get the sprinkles to stick to the sides without risking dropping the cake.

I had planned for a few more things like monster toppers for the cupcakes that were served and drawing the monsters with Cricut markers on several sheets to make a small coloring book for the kids but ran out of time.

My Creative Time....Again!

Hello, my dear readers....just popping in to share my submission for the latest challenge at My Creative Time.  The latest Throwback Thursday challenge calls for using a Font cartridge.  Emma's suggestion is that we not only use the fonts on the cart but also check out the shapes/images that can be found on alot of  the Font cartridges.  I know I have quite a bit of font carts and I don't use nearly half of them.  For this challenge I resorted to one of my favorite font cartridges and one of the first ones I bought when I got my original cricut machine.  In fact for this project, I even dusted off my original baby bug and put her to use. It was great.  For the challenge I decided to make another two page layout for my grandson's baby album. As I've mentioned before, the theme for this book is Winnie the Pooh.

I love this cart because not only does it have great fonts but it also has some wonderful images of Winnie and all his friends.  I don't recall where I got the base mat..sorry... The banner is my favorite part because it's not a shape but a font.  I used the wood shadow feature on the cart and selected capital "B", shift.

When you turn it sideways, it looks like a banner.  So I cut this a few times, punched some holes and put in some grommets with my crop a dile, ran some ribbon through the holes to give it more life.  I love my little banner because it was so unexpected.  

I cut some swirls from another font cart, Don Juan.  Another one of my favorites...I put swirls on each top corner because it looked a little empty.  The last font cart I used was Songbird.  It's one of my newer carts and like so many, one I haven't used often.  

I used the perch feature, and cut this little bird on a sign.  On the sign, I stamped my grandson's name using $1 stamps by Studio G. I can't wait to add the pics.

Not so happy beach baby

Here's a layout for my grandson's first trip to the beach.  He's 11 mos and I'm glad we had the opportunity to share this moment with him.  He absolutely hated the water, probably because it was a bit cold for him.  He did enjoy sitting around in the sand but I'll scrap those pics at a later date.

It's a 8x8 layout meant for his mother's album.

I cut the frames from the George & Basic shapes cart and popped them to make it easier to add pictures later on.  The title was cut using Don Juan. I used these G Studio stamps from the $1 bin at Michaels to make the first part of the title.  

The waves and title were inked with brown chalk.

All the sea creatures were cut using Create a Critter cart.  I like how they look but I was annoyed at the fact that my daughter put the lid to the baby bottle on top of my little octopus.  It was too late in the evening to cut another one, so I made the best of it.

First challenge

So this year I am determined to use my cricut more often.  I mean I've invested so much into this wonderful machine and somehow I never find the time to use it unless I'm creating favors and invites to a party.

This week's challenge over at Fantabulous Cricut is called Snowy Delights.  It's challenge #41 and the goal is to create something with snow. Since I needed to do the bulletin board in my office, I decided this was the perfect opportunity to create something that I could submit for the challenge.  This is what I submitted

This bulletin board is located directly in front of my desk and it's what everyone looks at when they are using the copier.  It's not too fancy, just something simple but I believe it meets the requirements for the challenge.  The picture is not the greatest since I had to use my Android to take it, silly me forgot my camera this morning.

Like I said before it's not spectacular but I am excited since this is my first challenge.

I used 'Joys of the Season' and 'Don Juan'.  The glitter on the flakes is from Martha Stewart.
